It’s everywhere, human relationships. We are surrounded by it day by day, in fact we strongly depend on it, without human relationships we would most probably not survive. And yet - it’s beautiful and painful at the same time, a rather dualistic matter; until death comes along and puts a definite end to it… In that case, shouldn’t we be more careful with our fellow humans?
It was one of the rare sunny days in London, a Saturday and I decided to go to the center to take pictures of shoppers and tourists. You can witness various behavior, Saturdays are interesting in terms of atmosphere and I thought it might be a good start. So I found myself on the street again, this time looking out for peoples secret gestures, facial expressions, etc. I saw this couple playing around with their camera and the guy with the banana observing them. It wasn’t that easy to frame as the background was very busy and at first I tried to photograph them straight on, too obvious and the boy looked at me surprised and not very pleased. Now it was me making an apologetic gesture, turning away if only to wait and see… I gave it another try and got this photo out of it… Further on in China Town I was struck by the amazing winter light, which occasionally highlighted people faces. I stood around there for quite a while trying to make use of the light. The brief was again the images to be in B&W - there is one image I want to show in color as well, as it is much stronger due to the colors.
